Ownership and management
Share Classes
Different types of shares in the same company, with different rights, usually to vote or to receive dividends.
Why does it matter?
Two shares of the same company can come with different powers and different prices.
How do I read it?
Alphabet's GOOGL shares carry a vote, while its GOOG shares don't. In Brazil, ON shares (ending in 3, like PETR3) vote, while PN shares (ending in 4, like PETR4) usually don't but have priority for dividends.
Example
Petrobras has two kinds of shares on B3: PETR3 (ON, with votes) and PETR4 (PN, without votes but with priority for dividends). They usually trade at different prices.
