Your time horizon is how long you expect to keep an investment. It shapes how you read the same information.

In the short term

Over days, weeks or months, share prices can move a lot for reasons that have little to do with how the business is doing: news headlines, interest rates, or changes in the general mood of the market. These movements are very hard to predict.

In the long term

Over many years, a company's results, such as whether its , and grew, tend to matter more for what happens to its value. That is why StockLab shows several years of history and treats the price chart as secondary.

Why it matters for decisions

Someone planning to hold for ten years and someone who needs the money next year face different risks, even with the same company. Money you may need soon is more exposed to short-term price swings. A long horizon doesn't make an investment safe, but it gives the business more time to show its results.

Keep in mind

Thinking long term doesn't mean ignoring bad news. It means asking whether the news changes the business over the years, not just the price this week.
