The company at the time

Mastercard runs one of the world's two largest card payment networks. It doesn't lend money or issue cards itself; banks do, and Mastercard earns a small fee each time a card on its network is used. As more people around the world pay by card and online instead of with cash, the number of payments it handles keeps rising. Its revenue has grown every year for the past five years, its profit margin is high, and it holds more cash than debt. In its results for 2015, released a few days ago, revenue grew only about 2%, mostly because a strong U.S. dollar lowered the value of sales made in other currencies; without that effect, growth was much higher. The annual report with these 2015 figures isn't out yet, so the numbers below still show 2014.

Information available at the time

The same numbers as on company pages, as they had been reported by February 1, 2016. Sector medians aren't shown because StockLab doesn't have them as they stood back then.

Revenue, growth, profit and cash flow are for fiscal year 2014 (ended December 2014), the latest full year in an annual report filed by then; cash and debt come from the latest report (its date is on the card). Results announced after that aren't in these cards yet, even if the story above mentions them, so their numbers can differ.
