The price of one currency in another, such as how many reais one U.S. dollar costs.

Why does it matter?

For someone who spends reais, the result of an investment in dollars depends on both the investment and the exchange rate.

How do I read it?

If a share rises 10% in dollars and the dollar also rises 10% against the real, the gain in reais is about 21%. StockLab shows the rate it used to convert Brazilian companies' figures to dollars.

Example

If the dollar goes from R$ 5.00 to R$ 5.50, $1,000 in U.S. shares becomes worth R$ 5,500 instead of R$ 5,000, even if the shares didn't move.
